International Day of Charity

by Coach Kardan

The International Day of Charity is an annual event that takes place on September 5th. The United Nations General Assembly established the day in 2012 to raise awareness and funds for charitable causes worldwide. The late H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was a man who cared about his people and left an impact on this country that still thrives today through charity initiatives he started decades ago. He inspired not only the leadership of this country but all its citizens to be part of charity work globally. Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation was founded in 1992 to support charitable initiatives and offer public services in the UAE and abroad. In addition to supporting hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, first aid stations, childcare centers, orphanages, and care facilities, it offers study grants and scholarships. It supports cultural and medical institutions on every continent and provides aid to victims of natural disasters.

In recent years, the UAE has seen an expansion in the amount of charity work being done. This is mainly due to the increased awareness of social issues and the rise of digital media platforms, which made it easy for people to donate and get involved. The UAE is now home to some of the world’s most innovative and effective charities, and they profoundly impacted the lives of more than 100 million people.

As a leader, your employees are motivated and inspired if they see that their company is committed to making a difference in the world. When employees feel like they are part of something bigger than themselves, they are more likely to be engaged with their work and be motivated to give. The UAE is home to many voluntary initiatives that companies and their employees can get involved with.

Charity plays an essential role in society, helping to promote social cohesion and inclusion, decrease poverty and inequality, and support the work of vital global organizations. If you want to get involved and make a difference, consider donating or volunteering to one of these worthy causes.
