The UAE is considered the first country to launch“Flag Day”, but it constitutes a source of inspiration for several countries around the world, which also include“Flag Day” as a day of celebration, and it has always been a clear pioneer in the unique national leadership, as this fact is clear. It all began after Mr. Abdulla Mohammed Al Ma’enah saw an advertisement for a competition to design the UAE flag, which was sponsored by Al Diwan Al Amiri Abu Dhabi. The competition was published in the Al Ittihad newspaper in Abu Dhabi two months prior to the declaration of the UAE’s formation. About 1,030 designs participated, and it was from these that the current flag was finally chosen.
The national flag comes with three multiple parallel stripes, which are green at the top, white in the middle, and black at the bottom, in addition to a red vertical stripe on the eastern side.
The colors of the flag are as follows:
- White is a symbol of peace, goodness, and giving.
- Black is a symbol of courage for the people of the Emirates, defeat, and strength of Emirati.
- Green is a symbol of hope, optimism, prosperity, and growth.
- Red is a symbol of boldness, courage, influence, and effectiveness.
The youth take pride in their national identity, which they inherited from their parents, and they use poetry of redemption and devotion to teach the next generation about the value of a nation’s identity.
